Pre-Wedding Shoot Locations near Mussoorie: A Dreamy Experience by Rahul Rawat & Yukta Joshi

Planning a pre-wedding shoot is no less than planning a mini wedding itself. For us, Rahul and Yukta—two corporate professionals from Gurugram with roots in Dehradun—it was a journey back to our hometown to capture the most romantic moments of our lives. Mussoorie, with its scenic hills, dreamy meadows, and vintage charm, felt like the perfect canvas to paint our love story.

The Ride of Romance to Mussoorie

We started our 2-day pre-wedding shoot adventure from Dehradun in an XUV 700 we rented self drive cars in Dehradun from Rapidx Car Rental. The car was Super spacious, comfortable, and loaded with extra space for our outfits and props, the car became our mobile wardrobe and chill zone. It even had sunshades which turned out to be a blessing for changing outfits on the go without any awkwardness. The drive up the hills, with our favorite songs playing and clouds chasing us. Our photographer loved the idea too—some of our best candid car moments were shot while we were jamming in the front seats!

1. George Everest – Vintage Charm & Open Skies

First stop of our shoot was George Everest, early in the morning to catch the sunrise. With endless skies this place was a dream come true and should be visited by any couple wanting to do a pre wedding shoot in Mussoorie or any nearby place. Rahul wore a cream sherwani with light golden embroidery, and I (Yukta) wore a pastel peach lehenga with floral handwork. We danced barefoot on the grass, posed near the ruined colonial house, and lay on a picnic mat for some laid-back couple shots. Our photographer captured us holding hands with the vast Himalayan range as our backdrop. Pure magic.

2. Bhadraj Temple – Sacred Serenity

We reached just after noon, dressed in coordinated off-white Indo-western outfits. We clicked some beautiful shots on the temple stairs, and even tied sacred threads on the temple railings for good luck in our marriage. The drone shots here were breathtaking!

3. Dhanaulti – Meadows and Mist

Dhanaulti was a surprise. Though a bit farther, the drive itself was gorgeous. We had thermos coffee in the car, and our photographer was as excited as us for this location.

In the Eco Park, we chose a more casual look—Rahul wore suspenders with a white shirt and I wore a yellow flowy gown. We danced, laughed, ran across the meadows and clicked those Pinterest-style shots among the pine trees.

A small fog rolled in during sunset, giving our photos a soft, dream-like effect. One of our props—a bunch of yellow balloons—stood out beautifully against the mist.

4. Pari Tibba – Whispering Pines & Seclusion

If you want privacy and poetic nature, Pari Tibba is it. We reached here around golden hour. It’s an offbeat spot, and not many tourists visit, so we had the entire hill to ourselves.

This was our most romantic segment. I wore a deep maroon gown, and Rahul had a black tuxedo with a bow tie. We had a small picnic setup , and our photographer captured us in some really intimate frames.

5. Gun Hill – The Iconic Skyline

No Mussoorie shoot is complete without the legendary Gun Hill. We took the age old ropeway (Unfortunately this ropeway recently got closed for public use as it needed some maintenance, Hope it will open for public use again), and our photographer timed it so that we got sunset shots over the Dehradun Valley.

Dressed in denim jackets and boots for a rugged look, we leaned against the railing with the golden sun casting silhouettes behind us. We even managed a slow dance as a street musician played a tune nearby.

7. Landour & Landour Church – Old World Romance

We wrapped up our shoot at Landour, Mussoorie’s vintage heart. Landour Church was straight out of a fairy tale. Dressed in English formal wear—Rahul in a waistcoat suit and me in a long lace dress—we walked along the cobbled lanes holding hands.

The church’s colonial architecture, pine-covered surroundings, and soft morning light made everything look more cinematic. Our photographer played with light and shadows here, creating some stunning monochrome shots. There is also Landour cafe here which is also very beautiful and anyone visiting can surely take some shots at this cafe as well, the view of whole Mussoorie is posible from this cafe.

Final Thoughts

We hired Amit Kumar Photographer from Dehradun for this Pre Wedding shoot, he and his team were really professional during the whole shoot and helped us with deciding our dresses and poses for this shoot. We had a wonderful experience with them.
Not to forget that this trip was much more than just a photo session—it was a celebration of love and laughter. Our rented self drive cars in Dehradun - XUV 700 from Rapidx Car Rental gave us the flexibility and freedom to explore every corner of Mussoorie and nearby without being rushed and at our own pace.
To love, hills, and to our Lifetime commitments.
- Rahul and Yukta
